Abdul Ahhad, an alumnus of the IOK elementary, middle and high school programs has studied under a diverse array of our instructors. He also studied at the IOK weekend Saturday and Sunday school as well as the afterschool program. Now, he’s giving back to the institution that he credits for making him who he is today as a weekend school teacher. “I probably spent more time over the course of ten years at IOK and IEC than my own home. My classmates became my brothers and sisters when my siblings moved out to pursue college, and my teachers became my parents when my mother and father worked late nights. I can confidently say today that the principles and values that govern my life today are set by the foundations IOK built within me over a period of ten years.” His passion for Islam and dedication to supporting Muslim causes across the state are rooted in the principles he remembers learning at IOK. Now pursing a life of public service as a UCLA senior studying political science and public affairs, Abdul Ahhad aspires toward a career in state government. He also serves on the executive board of SoCal MIST in which he once participated as an IOK student.
